The people at the school make you feel really welcome there. After work or on weekends they took us to go swimming or hiking together, we saw sunsets, Tikal and danced together :) Most of them don't speak english that well so if you don't know any spanish it will be a bit harder to hold conversations, but they are all learning english so don't let that stop you! My job was to teach the children (2-11 y.) in the library which included reading together and playing games to teach them things like beeing cooperative, reading and to take care of the books. It was so much fun!

How to start? This was one of my best volunteering experience ever! I felt super welcome, was able to build teaching experience and what stood out to me was that they welcomed my ideas. It was great to shadow and asisst the English teacher Arecely during most of my time. The way they took care of me was amazing too, a great cabin at the school and freshly cooked meals by Yajaira and Aury! I would to thank everyone there who was so kind to me, made me feel at home and made me a part of their lives for one month.

Really amazing project run by some equally amazing people. The staff make you feel like your home straightaway and is a perfect place to improve your Spanish whilst making a genuine positive impact to the local community.

Esta fue mi primera experiencia como voluntaria, pero estoy realmente admirada y complacida de haber estado en este lugar y compartir con personas tan especiales, que nos trataron como alguien de su familia, un ambiente lleno de paz y amor estoy muy agradecida los días se pasaron muy rápido pero me llevo en mi corazón todas las vivencias el cariño de todas las personas, este lugar está lleno de muchas atracciones turísticas, gente alegre , emprendedora, etc. Estoy planeando regresar nuevamente porque aún quedan muchas cosas por descubrir y explorar .
