Such an amazing experience! Nelly and Franco are lovely and made me feel super welcome from the start. The dogs were the best part—spending time with them just brought me so much joy everyday ❤️ The accommodation is simple, but being with the other volunteers really made it feel like home. Especially waking up to the beautiful view over the Sicilian countryside was incredible. It was peaceful, quiet, and exactly the kind of break I didn't know I needed. I felt truly comfortable here and can't wait to come back. It was an experience I'll never forget.

I really enjoyed my 3 weeks spent at the shelter. Every day the sun was scorching which sometimes made the work difficult but it helped starting at 7am so you could skip the hottest time of the day. The dogs in the shelter are literal angels on earth and i'm going to miss them all so much. The weekly Sunday lunch was delicious. The fellow volunteers from all corners of the world were amazing, every night was spent playing cards at sunset. Overall, I would really recommend this place to everyone, it can be tiring but it's worth it to spend even a second with the sweet doggies at the shelter :)

This is an amazing place to volunteer and help out. I stayed here for 3 weeks but now wish I had stayed longer. Neli and Franco are both great people and it's an amazing thing they are doing. The work is enjoyable, keeps you healthy (from all the walks) and is good for the soul(you spend all day with dogs). Every Sunday Neli and Franco cook beautiful sicilian lunches and sometimes there is even a sweat treat after. For anyone wanting to da meaningful and purposeful thing I would definitely recommend volunteering here.

La mia esperienza al Rifugio the shelter è stata incredibile. Nelly e Franco sono ospiti gentilissimi e accoglienti. Il lavoro può essere impegnativo, ma è molto gratificante. La dedizione che hanno verso i cani è davvero ammirevole. Il rifugio è immerso nella natura e facilmente raggiungibile in autobus; Franco è sempre disponibile ad accompagnarti alle fermate o al supermercato. Se ami gli animali e la vita all'aria aperta, questo posto fa per te. Grazie di cuore per questa bellissima esperienza!

Nely and Franco have created the most beautiful and inspiring safe place for dogs who have had some bad luck in their lives. The shelter is very well organised and built to prioritise the dogs' well-being, even though it solely relies on donations. Yes, the work is physical but time flies when working with these beautiful creatures as well as with the volunteers. I really felt at home and can't wait to be back! Overall, if you are looking for a fulfilling experience, a source of inspiration, contact with dogs and an opportunity to actually make an impact, then this place is ideal❤️

My time at the shelter was indescribable and the five weeks I was here went by way too fast! Nelly and Franco are the most lovely people who care so much about the dogs and volunteers. The work can be physical, but very rewarding. Every single dog has stolen my heart and I will miss them all. I can recommend this experience to any- and everyone that loves animals! My stay at Nelly and Franco's shelter has been absolutely amazing. They are such kind open minded people, the nature around is BEAUTIFUL and of course the dogs are the cutest creatures on earth. You really feel like you're having a positive impact volunteering here and you wake up in the morning with a purpose. I would recommend to any dog or in general nature lover to come to this place. Neli, Franco and the lovely dogs. This is all I could think about when reviewing my experience in this place. Wonderful work, the host puts a lot of time and energy to make this planet a better place. Homeless dogs that are cared for and get adopted. If you want to make a difference on this planet, this is the wright place for you. Experiența mea ca și român a fost cu de toate. Un lucru bun: comunicarea a fost plăcută in limba romana. Un lucru rău: am atras antipatie si gelozie din cauza acestui lucru. Nu te astepta sa primești tratament preferențial din cauza ca esti roman!

I had the most fulfilling experience here! Nely and Franco were kind and welcoming hosts. You can feel the love, dedication, and hard work that they put into this place. If you have unconditional love for dogs and are open minded and respectful then this is the place for you. All the animals have such unique personalities and it was so much fun to bond with them. You will be exposed to the elements and get dirty but that's part of the fun. It's located in a beautiful remote area and it was so nice to enjoy a simpler lifestyle. I'm so grateful for this experience and all the memories I made!

Absolutely loved the shelter. It makes such a difference for the dogs, everyday you work, you can see the dogs coming out of their shells and their personalities really shine! The people you meet along the way are incredible. I loved the area, it is a little in the middle of nowhere, but Franco is so generous with driving you places if you ask nicely. Make sure you go to the Bakery/ Cafe in Sasi! I m is the dogs everyday, and can't wait to go back!
