I had a great time at Kartoffeln Hotel! The surroundings are beautiful and peaceful, it's a great place to disconnect. The tasks were fairly simple and the staff was always available to explain questions and have nice chats! On top, the other volunteers were amazing people and made my stay there unforgettable. Overall a really nice experience :)

My stay in Karttoffeln Hotel was really nice! I had the opportunity to connect with other volunteers from all around the world, I got to practice my the hostel and It was a great momento to disconnect from the virtual world. In Karttoffeln Hotel you will have the opportunity to see how a Hotel/Restaurant works, with this internship you will be working on various tasks that a hotel needs to mantain itself. Working hours are normally respected, just one day per month you work way more. Staff have some communication problems, but overall a great experience, Thank you very much for everything!

O hotel possui uma excelente estrutura, oferecendo a oportunidade de participar de aulas de yoga e meditação, além de usufruir da sauna. As horas de trabalho são bem respeitadas, e geralmente os dois dias de folga semanais são consecutivos, o que é ótimo para explorar outras regiões e viajar. Embora alguns turnos sejam mais intensos que outros, o sistema de rodízio entre os voluntários, como tem sido implementado, funciona bem. Normalmente, os turnos começam por volta das 6h e terminam às 12h30, com uma pausa de 30 minutos para o café da manhã, garantindo que temos o resto do dia livre.

My experience at Kartoffel Hotel was great. I had the opportunity to meet a lot of nice people. The team was kind and welcoming. Just so you know: - The wifi is not so great depending where you're staying in the hotel, - Bring bug spray (lot of ticks, one of the volunteers ended up getting the Lyme disease and had to go to the hospital, so be aware), - Bring clothes that can get dirty. Otherwise, the place is very nice for some "me-time" and you can travel to bigger cities during your days off. If you enjoy nature and quiet surroundings, the hotel is the perfect place.

I have to correct you a bit, there aren't many ticks here. And no one here has had to go to the hospital, and no one has gotten Lyme disease. What you're doing is a bit panic-mongering for people from the city. For us rural folks, mosquitoes and ticks are a part of nature, just like the birds and frogs and the beautiful landscapes that surround us. Many of us have never had a tick in our entire lives, and we've never bought mosquito spray. And if someone does have a tick, we remove it ourselve.

Overall, I had a very positive experience! Everyone was very welcoming and inviting. A couple small issues I experienced included internet connectivity and workload. The wifi connection was sometimes good, but there were many times where I couldn't connect to the wifi at all or nothing would load. Overall, the connection was okay. It also really depends on the location whether the wifi is good or not. My second issue was the workload when working in housekeeping. It often felt like there were endless tasks and not enough people to help. These issues were small and I'd definitely go back!

My experience was good overall. I worked with housekeeping most of the time (it can be really tiring and stressful sometimes, be aware!), but I also did other tasks when asked (bring pants + shoes that can get dirty + bug spray just in case). The working hours were respected, and they provide good food and accomodation. I had a private room at first and then shared the room with another girl. The wifi was terrible most of the time, but a few days before I left they fixed it. They were flexible when I asked to change my schedule in advance. Place is amazing to relax, but there's not much to do.

I wouldn't recommend it as a volunteering experience, but it could be okay as a hospitality internship if you already speak some the hostel. Also, be aware that if you're a man, you'll be sharing a house (while all girls get private rooms) and doing physical work in the garden. That said, I made great friends among the volunteers and some of the staff. The surrounding area is beautiful, perfect for biking and hiking, and decently connected by public transport, which makes it easy to travel on your days off.

-The hotel is really warm and cozy -I got to know people from all over the world, with whom I shared wonderful moments that I will never forget, and made my time here x100 better -The tasks were generally easy to perform -The schedule was nice, always trying organize the shifts so we could have free time -Perfect place to disconnect for a while -The food is amazing (breakfast on top) and with good variety, even for vegetarians -The wifi could use some improvement, but it was usable most of the time

I really loved volunteering here, Olaf and the rest of the full time staff were lovely and the other volunteers made the stay very fun. The location is quite remote but provides a unique experience of an area I never would have got to on my travels otherwise and was absolutely amazing at christmas time!
