Das Erlebnis

We are rebuilding Saids old family home. While restoring the house, we want to make this oasis green again, build an empowering atelier for the local children & women and make a small guestspace for travelers.

The work is varying, for example: making adobe bricks, building new parts of the project, taking care of the garden & animals, collecting water, cooking and cleaning. The tasks are depending on the season and on the availability of water.

Programmdetails

The work can vary day by day; from harvesting alfalfa to creating new canals, from recovering old parts inside the house to working on new, small construction projects. Taking care of the animals and the house is a daily activity. Everyone helps in cooking and cleaning as well. Depending on the time of year, we make adobe bricks. Some periods we harvest dates or barley, and we harvest alfalfa, grass or weeds for the animals daily.

We build a lot with natural and recycled materials, and sometimes local workers come to work with us as well.

Aktivitäten & Schichten

We start our day slowly waking up, first harvesting food (for those who feel to work a bit before breakfast) and feeding the animals, after that we start preparing breakfast. If there is cleaning in the kitchen needed this will be done first. After breakfast we start the work.

The tasks vary on the time of year. Usually there is always harvesting work to do, and some periods of the year we work on natural construction projects. Help is needed as well in keeping the house and area clean. Volunteers can see which work fits them, and no skills are required, but we expect that everyone helps where they can. We will be happy to teach you everything :)

During the hottest hours of the day there will be a lot of time to rest and relax. After lunch of the day there is some time for work again, and we will choose a nice moment in the day to go for walks with the dogs. During the hotter seasons we work more in the mornings and evenings, less in the midday.

All tasks are depending on the season/weeks and can vary each period, as they are depending on the amount of water we have.
