The experience
Experience the serenity of village life through traditional cuisine. In the morning, participants cook local dishes such as Pelecing Kangkung and coconut oil, and get hands-on experience preparing Sasak coffee. In the afternoon, enjoy hunting for local food specialties, and in the evening, join the Sasak tradition of Betemoe—visiting neighbors to share stories and warmth.

Description:
$35 per day includes accommodation, cooking equipment and ingredients for the cooking class program, as well as three daily meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Program Details
The Slow Living Culinary Experience invites volunteers to immerse themselves in village life while learning traditional culinary practices. Volunteers will cook local dishes, experience herbal and local ingredients, participate in daily village activities, and engage with the community. The village hosts many events that volunteers can join, including the weekly Pasar Pancingan (Fishing Market), and other local events where volunteers are welcome to participate. The program emphasizes hands-on learning, cultural exchange, and living in harmony with nature
Activities & Shift
Morning (07:00 – 11:30)
Cooking local dishes such as Pelecing Kangkung and coconut oil.
Learning traditional cooking methods and using fresh ingredients from local gardens.
Afternoon (15:00 – 17:30)
Hunting for local food specialties around the village.
Optional cultural or community activities such as visiting local markets or learning about traditional food preservation.
Evening (18:30 – 20:00)
Join the Sasak tradition of Betemoe, visiting neighbors to share stories, meals, and community warmth.
Free Time
Midday break (12:00 – 14:30) and evenings are free for rest, reflection, or exploring the village surroundings.
Rules

4. No drugs or excessive alcohol consumption during the program.
