The Experience

The fall is harvesting time at Forestarìa farm! We need few volonteers helping us (me and my husband) during the week (Mon-Fri) harvesting the olives. We start in the morning, around 8.30am, a little break for lunch and then at 5pm we finish the day. The job is really easy, but a bit hard: we need to put the nets under the olive trees and then shake the olives, collect them in boxes and move again the nets to the next trees..

La Forestaria is an amazing place, both for the contact with nature and Eleonora and Marco, who are truly amazing people! I had the best time there, harvesting the olives, going on walks, making friends and exploring the place. Lupo, their son, was also always around making us laugh and play with him. I truly recommend going there without thinking twice, was one of the best experiences in my life!

I came to Forestarìa to help with the olive harvest and left hoping to return soon! The harvest consists of moving nets, using shakers, and carrying boxes of olives. The grove I worked on overlooked Lucca so I saw spectacular sunsets. The host family was friendly and supportive. Several times, Eleonora helped me get to the train station so I could explore nearby cities. Eleonora welcomed us in, sharing what she knows about Lucca, olive oil, and the local cuisine. I enjoyed bonding with her, Marco, and their son Lupo. Forestarìa really felt like a home to me and I am grateful for experience!

Forestaria Farm was both beautiful and cozy. I loved waking up in the morning, taking a breath of fresh air and listening to the soundscape.
The work was physical but not hard, it was nice to feel connected to the earth while working.
It was also a great way to bond with Elenora and the other volunteers.
Elenora is absolutely great. Very down to earth, welcoming and great sense of humour. I absolutely loved spending my days working with her and learning what I could. Lupo, her and Marcos son, is absolutely adorable. Elenora, Marco and Lupo are a great trio who make you feel welcome.

This was my first experience as volunteer in worldpackers and I have to said that everything was perfect! The place, where we were living is so confortable and beautiful! The job, is easy to learn but I liked do it specially with people from other countries, speaking different languages... and of course, Eleonora and Marco are beautiful people! They helped us since the first moment, everything was easy with them! I have a lot of good memories from this experience! Thank you for everything!

My experience here as been wonderful. The host family are wonderful people! I have especially enjoy working with their little boy and practicing English. They family is welcoming, hard-working, respectful, and they are great with keeping communication. Here at the farm there is opportunity to learn many new skills or refresh what you already know. I feel it has given me a fresh experience to grow as a person, and meet new people! If you are looking for a beautiful place to stay while learning new skills I would absolutely recommend this to other WP’s.
