I had a great time at Viktors!
It’s at the end of nowhere and the food was very traditional (sometimes 3x rice a day).
We mostly worked in the mornings and had the afternoons for ourselves.
Don’t except it to be a hostel though… it’s more a wanna be in my opinion which is not bad.
The family only speaks Spanish but is super sweet. Viktor is the only one speaking English. I spoke maybe twice with him in my volenteering experience because he was never there.
It’s hard work and in the middle of nowhere if that is what you’re looking for I truly recommend you this experience.

Valeska Drake was an amazing experience. The start was little bit difficult due to some misunderstandings probably. Feel free to contact me about the details. You can be part of a real local family, but without any Spanish language skill (like my case) the communication could be challenging some times.
The work was a little bit harder than my expectation (construction work), but I am sure it was only a temporary situation.
There are no groceries nearby but host is willing to bring you what you need. For compensation you can find a beautiful and empty beach in walking distance.

Victor & his family are lovely! I had the opportunity to release 300+ tortuguitas! I learned about turtles and a little bit of construction. I improved my Spanish (Gracias Max). The main job while I was there was helping to build the restaurant and gardening. Once a week beach cleanup. Night patrol to look for turtles you go if you want, it doesn't count as job hours. The grocery shop is 40min walking and the closest village to hangout is 2 hours walking.
If you are planning to go, my tips are: take waterproof shoes, raincoat, cash, snacks, fast drying clothes, go for 2-3 weeks and have fun!

My time at this place was very nice and I really enjoyed it.
The people were friendly and welcoming, I learned a lot about the local way of living.
Be prepared to pay in cash for your stay (10$ per night) because there is no ATM.
The work was quite good and if you are lucky you can rescue baby turtles.
I met a lot of nice people and we did the Corcovado tour were you go to one of the most biodiverse places in the world. We saw a lot of animals, it was really worth it!
I would recommend visiting this place.

It’s a family project in process which means you’re gonna be a part of the family and you’ll help them build stuff step by step. It’s nice to be a part of an improvement where you see the results. I would recommend bringing sports clothes for the work and because it dries faster which is appreciated when you’re in a humid area.

I loved learning about the turtles and help protect and liberate them. You can also go night patrol which is quite cool as well.

The place is a bit remote so bring good shoes for walking (and crossing rivers).

Cash is a good idea to bring as well because no ATM.
