I enjoyed my volunteering experience at CANI very much! It is located in Jocotenango which is just 10-15mins away from the popular town Antigua (very convenient to take chickenbus or Uber between 2 towns). I felt safe to stay in CANI. The staff and children are super friendly! As most of them don't speak English, it's a great opportunity to practice Spanish! Jorge is very nice and helpful too! He is very responsive and would kindly offer help whenever I need. During my stay, I am fortunate enough to join the celebration of Feria de Jocotenango and immerse in traditional local culture!

My experience at CANI was absolutely wonderful! Jorge is a welcoming person who is passionate about creating a space that is not only a school but also a cultural hub for locals. The rest of the staff were kind, respectful and always made me feel at home. As for the work, I initially came to help with plans for their renovations but Jorge was very flexible in allowing me to spend time in the classroom after I showed some interest in the kids. The accommodations at the school are simple but effective! And if you like kids, you will fall in love with the community they have here. Thanks again :)

I had a wonderful experience at CANI. While I was only there for a week, I feel like I learned so much and made so many connections with the team, locals, and the kids. This was a great opportunity to practice my Spanish and content creation skills, as well as learn more about Guatemala in general. CANI is very special and the team is so welcoming. I would highly recommend volunteering here!

My experience at CANI was something that will stay with me forever. The kids were so kind and grateful to be there. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming, despite the language barrier. It was an excellent opportunity to practice my Spanish and get fully immersed in the local culture. Jorge went out of his way to make sure my needs were met and that I was enjoying myself. He gave me the creative freedom to paint whatever I wanted, and it allowed me to communicate in ways I wasn't able to with words, given my limited Spanish. I would recommend this to anyone looking to make a positive impact.

The association is active and involved in various interesting projects, from children's education to urban and tourist development. There is a pleasant atmosphere with all the staff and professors who come to teach. However, beware of the girls to whom the project director asks to spend time in the city to have a drink and talk.... don't go alone but always with some other volunteer....
